Betty Reese is my name, but I am known by my grandchildren and husband as “Betsy”.

I have always “dabbled” in art, even as a child. My father was an artist, and I had every opportunity to learn many mediums but not until after I retired did I receive my degree from the University of South Carolina and begin to take my art work seriously.

With 6 grandchildren, there are many opportunities to practice my skills as a portrait artist and I do just that. I would venture to say black and white pencil portraits are my favorite medium, although I do some colored pencil portraits.

My computer skills from my first career in the newspaper business, trained me in the graphics field. That is where the skill to create portraits of houses, the silhouettes and the posterized pictures originated.

All of these different mediums start with a photograph, so I have developed the skills of a “wild and crazy” photographer who carries her camera with her all the time.

My husband Clyde, of 47 years, is my best critic as well as my best friend.

My hope is that I might share my love of art through your commissioning me to “draw” for you.

To God be the glory.
